Caillich - A Winter Poem

Cailleach, you spread your mantle across
The many winds. More precious than fine
Crystal. More deadly than shattered glass.

The chill of night enraptures the world.
The howling wind ringing—your breath. What
Destruction have you sown, O Dark One?

A cruel jest is it, the life that
Turns to death; blackened by rage so fierce.
Yet, how is it that I may fight you?

For the death is not without the birth.
The morbid blanket need precurse the
Multi-colored mosaic of life.

So welcome, foreboding existence!
Hail, frigged slumber! I embrace you!
Scythe of the spirit, I am your stalk!

Cailleach, you spread your mantle on us.
